Sheet Solver — Help and support

Questions or a problem? Write to [email protected] and we answer on weekdays. Include the name of the tab and what the sidebar says, and we can help faster.

How do I start?

Open a spreadsheet, then Extensions → Sheet Solver → Open Solver. Click Insert example: Sheet Solver adds a small tab with 12 players and a budget. Click Solve, and it picks the best team in a few seconds. Then set up your own model the same way: a goal cell, the cells it may change, and your limits.

It says “No solution meets all constraints”. What now?

Your limits can't all be met at once. Common causes: a budget too low for the number of picks you require, or an “=” that can never be hit exactly. Try “≤” instead of “=”, or loosen one limit at a time and click Solve again.

It says a formula is probably not linear.

Solver works best when the goal and limit cells add things up, like SUM, SUMPRODUCT or SUMIFS. Formulas such as IF, MAX or VLOOKUP on the changing cells can make the answer less than the best. Move that logic into a helper column that doesn't depend on the changing cells, and the warning goes away.

Goal Seek can't find a solution.

The value you want may be out of reach, or the formula cell may not depend on the cell you change. Sheet Solver puts the cell back as it was and shows the closest value it found. Check that the formula cell really uses the input cell.

Solving takes a long time.

Formulas Sheet Solver can read directly (SUM, SUMPRODUCT, SUMIF, SUMIFS, + − × ÷) solve in seconds. Other formulas are measured one changing cell at a time, about a second per cell. The progress bar shows the time left.

I bought Pro. How do I turn it on?

After paying you see your licence key. In the sidebar, scroll to the bottom, click “I have a licence key”, paste the key and click Activate. Do the same on each Google account you use.

I lost my licence key.

Write to [email protected] from the email you paid with, and we send it to you.

How do I cancel Pro?

Go to Manage subscription, paste your licence key and click Open billing. You can cancel, change plan, update your card or download invoices there. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
